What program to use?

I would love to be able to organize all my "stuff" in one place on my computer. This is why I loved the idea behing Evernote so much. However, when I got it a few years ago, it felt clunky, not easy to use. I set it aside. They have made some nice updates, I have found recently. When I was looking online to find more efficient ways to use Evernote, I came across SpringPad. I found its demo video intriguing. My husband asked about my search and, after I explained, he suggested Trello. I am looking over all three, and their pros and cons. Any ideas?

Snow Day

We were lucky enough to have a snow day-and lucky enough to not have our power go out or to be snowed in too long. We were lucky enough that our roads weren't bad and husband could still safely get to work, but our school districts were cautious enough to cancel early and let us all sleep in. The snow was very heavy when I shoveled, so I felt like I got exercise in, but this evening I noticed even the un-shoveled driveways were clear from the melting. It was very pretty as it clung to the trees, and I appreciated it's arrival, so I could read by the fire. I told my students, "Fingers crossed for a snow day tomorrow. Not that I don't love all of you, but I'd like a day with my book in front of the fire." They replied with similar sentiment, "It's not that we don't love you, too, Mrs. Henson, but we'll have our fingers crossed!" :) So, I had to be true to my word and finished my Buried in the Bog book. It was a good book.It was interesting and kept my attention, but not great, in that I probably won't read #2 in the series. I also had a nice time this afternoon with my in-laws. We are putting together a gift for my daughter's graduation-a gift they said they'd like to make, but I had already thought of, so we are working together and today's planning session went so wonderfully. I am delighted.

Weekdays

Weekdays seem to fly by. Yesterday we got up, got kids to school, I worked, ran, got ready for work, headed off, taught, headed home. When hubby got home we worked on dinner, then went for dessert at his mom's-hubby's uncle and aunt were in town for a visit, and it was so nice to see them. We went home, I replied to a few parents' emails for school, then hubby and I read in bed for a bit. Although I couldn't read more than a chapter, as my eyes were drooping. He read for a while, I guess, but I snoozed. My throat had been sore, but I feel better this morning, so the rest was needed. And that was yesterday in a nutshell. :)

March 3 2013

Been a fun weekend, thus far. Yesterday, the hubby, our oldest and I ran in a 5K race near our home. It was cold, windy and snowing, but I ended with a good time, and that feeling of accomplishment. We went home, ate, got some of our chores done, ate some lunch, napped, worked a little more and then we rented movies. The girls watched 27 Dresses in the basement-on the new couch that arrived on Friday night. {We had a basement flood, removed all carpet, repainted the walls, got new carpet and, now a pull-out couch.} The husband has been wanting to see Skyfall 007-the latest James Bond movie, and we hadn't yet, so we watched that. My husband popped over to the store, at my request, to pick up some popcorn. I like a salty snack and thought this would be healthier for me. He brought home "Natural Buttery Salt & Cracked Pepper" popcorn, which was VERY peppery-oh my goodness, he likes spicy, peppery things and it was too much for him. He bought "single servings" so I still ate the small portion, but wow, spicy! I started my "Buried in the Bog" book and it's not a bad mystery, thus far. I'm on page 99, now. This morning we went to church-the sermon was very good! Then we met my in laws out for brunch and came home for another short nap. I am enjoying the naps because they'll end all too soon once our kids have sports every weekend again. Now I'm supposed to be cleaning my office, but here I am, blogging. :) I hope you are well and ready to start a wonderful week!

Books

I gave myself a goal to read 20 books this year. I love to read, and I don't always keep track of how many. I wanted to encourage myself to keep going. So far I have finished Eggs Benedict Arnold by Laura Childs (Cackleberry Club #2), and The Gingerbread Bump-Off by Livia J Washburn (A Fresh-Baked Mystery #6), which were both mysteries. I am currently reading Buried in a Bog by Sheila Connolly (A County Cork Mystery, #1) and The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business by Charles Duhigg.

March 1, 2013 52 Lists

Wow, it's already March and heading into the 9th week of the year! I shouldn't be surprised that time is seemingly passing faster. Trying something new. I saw it on Ali Edwards' blog and Stephanie Howell's blog. It's called 52 lists. So, I started it. I was late to the party, but I am working on it, catching up, anyway. I made myself a little paper titled "52 Lists" in a cute font and numbers 1-25 on the side (I'm not sure if they encourage more/less? 25 seemed to fit nicely on my page.) I print one out for every week and write the theme in the top corner. After I finish it I sign my initials and the date at the bottom. So far the themes are: words that touch your soul, greatest comforts, things you should be proud of, current/future goals/dreams, what you're grateful for, the ways you can love others, things that make you feel healthy mind/body/soul, and (the one I still have to do) favorite albums. I think it's a fun idea to encourage me to write/journal. I think I will put them into our Project Life album, maybe... Might be fun for my regular bloggy friend/readers to try, too.
